357 Rossi leveraction deer rifle :-)

Got my buck last week so this week I went out to put some meat in the freezer. Deer haven't been moving on any of my farms too good lately, so patience has been my new found quality. Sitting in the stand for several hours with the Rossi in my lap I finally seen my deer. A good sized doe was moving in from a bordering farm and was making her way to mine. After she crossed the property line I couldn't get a clear shot for what seemed like an eternity. Finally she came into an opening 50 yards out and after Iyelled she stopped slightly quartering away. My 158 grain jacketed soft point entered several inches behind the shoulder and traveled up in the chest cavity and hit the off side shoulder and stopped. She kicked her hind legs, ran 5 yards and did a back flip. The bullet probably passed thru 15 inches or more of tissue and broke ribs on both sides. Never found the bullet in the chest cavity, but the entrance hole was quite massive...bigger than a golf ball in the rib cage. She bled very good and like I said didn't go far at all. I think I have found my new favorite hunting rifle. As soon as deer season is over I'll be sighting in using 125 grain jhp to try out on coyotes and even have some 110 grain 38 specials for squirrels and rabbits.

For those of you who would like to try this, I mounted a 2.5x pistol scope on mine and the holes under the rear sight aligned perfectly with Thompson center encore bases. I have $50 in the scope rings and bases on this rifle until I get a new scope. Groups are excellent and I could not be happier with my little 20" carbine from Rossi. Next will come a 454 cassul and a good optic. Can't wait for next years deer season!

I'm computer illiterate so Ihhaven't even tried making a photo bucket account yet. Waiting for someone to show me how. Is there another way to post pictures from my phone onto the thread? I'd love to be able to show off my buck!! Not the biggest in the woods, but definitely the biggest I've ever killed.

Congrats. Yep, levers are fun.

Here's my favorite, in 45 colt.
It's an Uberti replica of the 1866 Winchester.
