Sorry I don't have pictures. My most recent bird hunt I got one pheasant and that was the only one we saw, not very impressive.

Better than work or school. I've never went pheasant hunting.

Took my 10 year old son, and 12 year old daughter out Oct. 6 & 7 for the youth deer hunt.

We seen 5 come through on Saturday evening, including a 12 point. Told my son to take him if he could get the shot, he didn't. He turned and looked at me with tears in his eyes and said "I'm sorry I was shaking to bad to shoot". Felt bad for him. Told him its all good happens to just about everyone.

Same spot the next morning a doe crossed from the corn field into the woods without stopping. Five minutes later another doe was crossing and stopped 40 yards away and was watching us, he pulled up and aimed. I was standing behind and told him when he was ready to go ahead and take her. The whole time I'm watching him thinking there's no way he's going to shoot, he was shaking almost as bad as the night before with the buck. He shot, she never took another step!

Later that evening took them both out to the same spot, another doe crossed and stopped. Being he had his doe tag filled we were just watching her waiting for my daughter to shoot who was standing 20 yards down from us. She was supposed to be watching the funnels between the the two bean fields and the willow thicket. I looked down to see what she was doing, there she was sitting in the tall grass texting and not paying attention! Didn't see another deer, she was bummed a little, but in good spirits. She was giving her brother crap and told him "you may have gotten the first deer, but I'll get the first buck!"

Not much of a story with this one: Sitting in the truck drinking coffee waiting to see which way the wind was going to blow. A young fat doe walked into the field where I was parked. I had about a 10 yard stalk to get a real good shot. Shot the doe in the neck at about 45 yards with a 12 gauge slug fired from a Mossberg 500 with a rifled slug barrel.

Since bow season opened in Georgia on September 8, I've been on twenty hunting sets and have yet to see a deer.

So, the only thing I've killed is about 50 hours...

It'll get better!
