Default 2011 Deer Season

The weather was hell this rifle season in Missouri. Crazy warm and windy. After a frustrating weekend of hunting, I walked up on a nice 7pt buck and a doe in a field about 5pm on Sunday. They were about 75 yards away in tall grass. I shouldered my Marlin 30AS 30-30 with Skinner peep sights and aimed for the boiler room. Bang! He dropped on the spot, and she ran off. He got up a few seconds later...took two steps and went down for good.

Congrats on a nice Buck. I too got a nice 7-pointer. Had it on ground at 7AM. Used a cheap(nobody likes because it didn't cost $700)Mossberg ATR100 in 30-06 with Nikon Buckmaster(how's that for irony) scope and 150gr Federal.

Nice deer, Gentlemen!!!

Opening day is Saturday in Wisconsin, between Shade Jr. and myself we will have 4 tags to fill.
9 days of pure Heaven in the woods with my bestest buddy (my 12 year old son)!

Next year I will have one more to add to the group Shade Jr's. younger brother
the Spawn of Shade! We will just say the apple not only feel close to the tree but
rolled up to the trunk... But I digress...

I'm down here in south Carolina sitting in a stand right now. I do not have the discipline to be still and quiet all at the same time. It is a skill I am practicing. If it weren't for this phone I couldn't handle it. Haven't killed a deer all season. Today is my gonna be my lucky day, I can feel it

BTW nice deer. And I am using a marlin 336

I just came in off the stand to grab something to eat and watch a movie with the youngun. I heard deer moving all around me, but they were just too deep in the thick brush for me to get a shot. They teased me for over an hour, just like a woman will do.
