Fisherking, where do you live? I'm very jealous of you getting to hunt moose.

I live about 2 hrs north of Toronto Ont , Bracebridge, strait up Hwy 11. we are continuing up HWY 11 to Hurst North west of Timmins Ont about 7 1/2 hrs north of were we live.
I have a picture of a bull moose right beside our house where we were putting on a deck at the back. 20 yrds away.
P.S. I realy envy you all the deer you have around your area. We do alright with deer here. I got a 200 lbs eight point one durring bow seasion last year and he has a big brother that I have on my trail cam.
But moose meat is my favorite.
Good luck.

I took my oldest son squirrel hunting on Saturday for his first outing ever but being in a new area in Iowa and next to no wooded land anywhere around but The Big Marsh public hunting land.... We were ran off by mosquitoes. I counted 28 of them on top of his hat at one point... and we had on bug repellent. I ended up with 23 welts on my arms, neck, and the back of my head. We left early and will hold off heading back to the marsh until the temperatures drop and the damn skeeters die off a bit.
My boss and his brother own 600+ acres about 2 hours north east of here so in the next few weekends we'll head out to the Mississippi river area and get some squirrels and turkey.

How old is your son? I hate mosquitos, I got bitten 3 or 4 times this afternoon and finally went inside, but that's nowhere near what you survived.

My oldest is 10.
I took my youngest (7 years old) to the shooting range on Sunday to play with his new .22 and sight the scope in himself and plink around with the Ruger 22/45. I'll post pictures up later.
It was a good weekend; minus the blood loss.

Jester, sounds like a fun time and about like my afternoon yesterday. Bugs were eating me alive and I was sweating like a horse.

Just after sunset I had a deer come up behind me. The wind shifted and he caught my scent. Snorted a few times, stomped his foot a couple times and turned around. I was bummed. I'm debating if I should hit that same stand on Saturday or give it some more time to cool off. That was the only deer that made me the whole day.

I started using the Thermacell last season and it worked like a dream. Opening weekend last season found my granddaughter and me sitting in 85 degree weather 20 yard off a swamp. I had a big doe directly under the stand and nary a mosquito. These suck'as really work.

I know the thermacells work but I've heard people say they don't see any deer when using them. I have one, maybe I should dig it out.
