OK, so I took the plunge. Club was running a Classifier after the last match. So I took my 686 and 2 boxes of 38spl. Thought I did terrible. But when we totted up the score I actually (just barely) made Marksman.

I'm going to save up my pennies and get 2 boxes of 357 that meet power factor for ESR. Hopefully I will have my trigger fixed by then. Gonna try to make MM in ESR too. Then I'll be a 5 Gun Marksman! Gotta start somewhere!

I am going to be shooting SSR with my 629 (44 mag) on the first Saturday in April. I designed a stage for the day.

I am going to try to attach it. I am going on vacation next week. I have a bunch of left over plywood from some projects. I an going to try to build a bank set out of wood...even a vault.

Looks like a fun stage Rick. That 44mag would make ESR if you wanted to. Unless you're shooting 44spl through it.

Actually I sometimes shoot a power factor of 195. Other times it is around 150 or 160. It is not recoil that keeps me from shooting ESR. It is the fact that I use speed loaders instead of moon clips. There are a couple other guys in my club that shoot revolvers now and then. But no one shoots ESR. Speed loaders are not competitive in ESR. That is why ESR was created...because people with speed loaders could not keep up.

Hmmm... no one shoots ESR. So there's something wrong with first place?

You're right there is a speed penalty for speed loaders compared to moon clips. And if you're really competitive that penalty might matter. For me, I'm not that good and I know it. But I can use IDPA as practice anyway. So, for me 357 with speedloaders is not a real penalty. It's an opportunity to practice with what I keep it loaded with!
