New Rifle Arrived/Range Report
3 Attachment(s)
My new 1873 lever action rifle arrived on Wednesday and I was able to take her out for a field test today. I set my target stand at 50 meters and decided to shoot from the supported standing position. Our range has cement tables on the firing line so I was in a solid shooting position. I loaded up 10 rounds of my Cowboy Action match loads in 38 and settled in to see how she would print. To put it bluntly I could not be more pleased with how she shoots and her accuracy. I fired a total of 200 rounds and she functioned flawlessly.

The pictures below show my targets. The top green target shows the first 100 rounds and they grouped a little high of center. I then narrowed my focus to two small orange targets and again she printed a little high, you can only see one in the pictures as I covered the other one with the big pink and black target. That target is my last and I practiced my rapid levering and shooting to try and get a feel for how quick and accurate I could shoot. I also fired about 25-40 rounds at a steel pig at the 100 meter mark and was consistently hitting it 4 out of 5 rounds.

Overall I am extremely pleased with the rifle and cannot wait until I can shoot my first match with it.

Looks good, at 100 you should be spot on center.

The sight was at it's lowest setting and as I use her for Cowboy action shooting she is spot on for me. I'm not tack driving or bulls eye so she works great.

Can I borrow it? Maybe if my wife shoots one for herself I can convince her that we really do NEED one.

Looks like a fun toy and some nice shooting.
