Getting back on topic, The Smith & Wesson M&P Pro is a very good choice for a 9mm IDPA gun.

What pistols do you shoot well with right now? Stick with the same designs that you are currently good with.

If you want to try something different, here's some suggestions (all are very sturdy handguns in their own way):

Beretta 92 Series

Taurus PT-92

Smith and Wesson M&P

Glock 17 or 19

Springfield Armory XD9 (4 inch or 5 inch)

ParaOrdnance 1911 (9x19mm)

Taurus 24/7 Pro series

Ruger SR9

Ruger P series

...or if you really want to piss people off, get a Hi-Point (like a .40 cal), tune it up, and get good with it. Start winning or getting in the top places, and you'll stir some controversy....lol.

I'm pretty sure it's personal choice for them. I can tell you than i know for a fact that at least some them carry the HK USP Tactical. It's not like there are only 6 qualified SEALs in the Navy, they're at the point where they have plenty to choose from. I'm sure even the SEALs have Sig snobs among them.

I wasn't stating that;

SEALs ONLY use SIGs, or that SEALs CURRENTLY use SIGs.

Just that in FACT, they have used them and it is a GOOD gun.

Let the petty sniping resume,.....I'm starting to understand the "mall ninja" quote earlier in this thread, as I seem to be surounded by you, I hope you guys don't hurt yourselves.....grow up and get over it.
I'm with you...you can never trust those guys that have actually done special ops stuff or anything. They are just trying to discredit those who have never done the stuff. You da man, dude!!

Look out, Paul Blart is following you....

Man, I just love creative thread drift.

For the OP, you may want to consider a CZ 75B in 9mm. Folks are using them around here and they do quite well. I had one and it was an excellent pistol, reliable and accurate. However, I don't shoot competitively.

Now, back to the Mall ninja, special forces, mine is bigger than yours pissing contest channel.

Back on topic. To tag off the OP's original question. I have a cz P-01, would that be classified in the stock service pistol category (I believe that's the name of the base cat?)?

I guess shooting IDPA is something I've been thinking about looking into also.

Back to the pissing contest.........
