GSSF Match
Hey all,
Just shot in my first competition ever. It was a GSSF match and I shot it with a glock 17.
I did two divisions:
Amateur Guardian and Amateur Competition. I think I did ok for my first time and really enjoyed it.
My times were AG: 83.40 and AC: 82.35, anyone else out there shoot GSSF?

Ahhh....nope, don't have no Glocks, but good for you and glad to see you participating in competing and shooting compititions, no matter what your firearms choice.

Gssf
Yes, I just joined the Foundation for $35. They sent me a coupon worth $100 off a new Glock. So I bought a G-17 and really like it. I have lots of 1911s and Sigs and this G-17 is a bird of a different feather, takes some getting used to but I love it.
I want to shoot a match and am practicing to do so. I'd say those times you listed are very good as they are only about twice what the best shoot. I'd be very pleased with those times as you often see numbers in the 200s.
The two things I am considering changing are the trigger weight (3.5 connector) and the sights. Not decided what to replace them with yet. Ideas appreciated.
Here is my new G-17. I tested it on 3" targets at 21 and 45 feet, free handed using various weight bullets. The 147 grain shot best but it may be a fluke.

I've shot in 6 GSSF matches. Each one I'm getting quicker in scores. But starting a match in the 80's is pretty good. I do use Federal 147 grain JHP. I mostly practice with this round so changeing to a 124 or 115 might thow me off.
Can't wait for the next match in November.

Just another update. I shot a second GSSF match in the same categories.
Amateur Guardian: 100.86
Amateur Compeition: 99.55
I did worse this time and I think it's because I rushed myself and had a lot of misses. I enjoyed GSSF a lot and can't wait to shoot it again this year. Until then I have been shooting PPC and find it a different animal.
Well hope all is well with everyone!
