I've gotten somewhat interested in bullseye shooting recently. I picked up a Ruger Mk III Competition (6 7/8 bull barrel) last fall and fitted it with a nice Ultradot sight. Unfortunately the ammo shortage has put a crimp on getting in any target practice.
When .22 is readily available again at affordable prices I'm going to try and sharpen up my skills and perhaps even look into adding a target 1911 to my collection.
I shot PPC for 20 years. Every year at the Police Olympics we shot 3 gun Bullseye with .22,centerfire and .45. It was
really demanding but enjoyable. A lot of shooters got their start in Bullseye and learned the fundamentals of shooting before moving on.
I run a monthly bullseye match here in Southern Calif. We get about 10 people a month shooting it. Twice a year we run the full 3 guns (2700). The rest of the time we just shoot 22 and CF (1800).
Nice to hear some of it still going on. I'm no longer in that area, but where is your range (city)? I was shooting at San Gabriel Valley Club and the Commerce City (basement) range. I lived in L. A. County.
I would like to point out, that 3 gun bullseye required shooting all weapons one handed!!
That alone made the 50 yard target a high degree of mental concentration.
