Good .270 round for High-Power Silhouette
I currently compete in Bench rest, Factory Class, group/score @ 100 and 200 yards with my Remington 700 Police in .308, and my variable scope set at 6x power. (Max allowed)
I am going to start competing in the high power silhouette competitions.
These are shot off-hand, (standing up). Chickens are set at 200 meters, javelina at 300 meters, turkeys at 385 meters and rams at 500 meters. The weight limit for this competition rifle is 10 lbs. 2 oz.
Therefore, I will be using my Remington 700 XCR in .270. I do not reload just yet, and therefore will need to pick a factory round for the silhouette competition.
What do you recommend would be an optimal .270 round for shots out to 500 yards on silhouette targets. One of, if not the biggest thing to consider, is how the round handles itself in the wind. |
