Default Going to shoot a USPSA match today.

I will be leaving in about 30 minutes to go set up targets. I normally shoot IDPA. But it is my normal club. We are trying to branch out. I am shooting a Ruger P95. It is the red headed step child of my collection. It has been sitting in my safe for about 6 years. I just want to have fun with it. I have been shooting a revolver. So this should be a little quicker with 15 rounds in it. But I do not shoot this gun anywhere near as good as my others. But I just feel like giving it a try. I am the guy that shows up with a different gun every month...just because I can.

Thank you. I am totally expecting to get my butt handed to me. But I am going to have fun.

Shooting it in Limited? Production limits you to 10 rds in the magazine.

CAUTION---USPSA is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE.

Yes. Limited minor. There are guys shooting really expensive guns with serious capacity in this class. But I just want to shoot it with this gun with a full mag to see what I can do with it. I don't plan on winning. I just like to test my own skills with real world guns that I did not spend a fortune on.

Heck I shot SSR in IDPA with a $275 S&W 64-6 while I left my $800 629 at home in the safe. I just wanted to see what I could do.

I have a couple really nice single stack guns in the safe that I could use. But I just want to do something different.

Well it was a rough match. In my first stage I had 4, yes I said 4 failures to eject. Each one ended up as a double feed! I went back to my truck and found a piece of crud stuck under the extractor that I did not see when I cleaned my gun. The second stage the gun ran flawlessly. I shot well and quick. But then the wind kicked up. Barricades started flying through the air. Target stands made out of steel car wheels where falling over. Steel spikes were being pulled up by the wind. We never got to shoot the other 3 stages. We tore everything down and cleaned up. But then I noticed that we had 6 steel knock down targets that were still set up. So I did a few drills with those. And I found that I could shoot that Ruger a lot better than I though I could. I may be using it again next time. It was still better than a good day at work!!!!

I have never had a problem hitting anything with a P95. Once you get used to a pyramid as a sight picture you will do much better.

I quit shooting guns with a safety/decocker behind my thumb because some safety/range officers have their own rules. At an IDPA match a safety officer told me he doesn't care about the rule book. He is running the match! I don't see how a range can be selected for the IDPA national championships when they make up the rules as they go.

I can either practice using the decocker or the hammer. I refuse to practice both to please some azzhole that can not read.

I am an SO. I would have taken that to the Match Director. I follow the rules. There are even a couple of new rules that I don't like. But they are rules...so I follow them. That is the only way to keep the sport consistent.
