First pin shoot
Well, I did my first pin shoot last tuesday. 5 pins at 8 yards; my worst score was 13 seconds with 8 shots, and my best score was 5.08 seconds with 5 shots. I was in the medium caliber catergory with a 9mm Glock 26. Not only was this my first pin shoot, but my first "competition" shoot. Anyone remember their first pin shoot score, or thier current scores.

Isn't .45acp the most common pin shoot caliber? I've never done it, myself, but your time sounds pretty great to my ears!

A lot of the guys there where in the large caliber catergory. But which ever catergory you are in decides how large the platform that the pins sit on is. For the small caliber(.22) the platform is about as wide as a 2x4. For medium caliber(.380,9mm,.38spl) the platform is about 1ft wide. And for the large calibers the platform is about 2ft wide. In pin shoots all pins have to touch the floor. So bigger calibers(all tho pack more punch) are not easier in a way, because they have to travel farther back. I've seen a lot of the large caliber guys have to shoot downed pins that failed to fall off the table. However the .22 guys that rarely happened.

Congrats! Remember your scores (or write them down), and try to get better (you will).

Congrats! I've always wanted to try a pin shoot but haven't done it yet. It doesn't help that there isn't a place close by that hosts them.

Yea. Have you tried your local ranges? There are some here in KC that are gun shop/range that host them 1 night a week. If you havn't done so try googling pin shoots in your area, or contact your local ranges and see if they host them or know anyone that does.
