easy peasy? Sounds like you have not fired on a shooting timer, compared to top hands, for speed work. :-) Try a Bill drill, ccw-capable rig, but openly worn. start hands hanging naturally at your sides. react to the start signal, draw and hit the chest at 7 yds, 6 times. 2 seconds flat is very good 2.5 seconds is pretty fair. 3 seconds is still faster than the average cop. 4 seconds is where most "average" guys come in. (but miss the chest 1-2x). That full 2 seconds difference, top hand vs the average guy, is 12 more hits that he put into the guy, or 2 more hits on each of 4 other guys. If you dont think that such a speed differential means anything, OKKKKK.

1) I've looked into Atlanta Ammo. They are plum sold out, no longer sell direct to the public, and the closest distributor (Montana) is also sold out. Time will probably fix this, though.

2) I've made my list to start reloading. As soon as $800 of "extra" money comes my way I can get the set up, not including components.

3) I've purchased 200 rounds of WWB 165gr for my Aug 3 match.

Components are hard to find these days. And expensive.

Update:

I actually found a man locally who has 4000 rounds of Atlanta Arms 180gr FMJ, that clocks out with a power factor of 170. It is designed for competition. I can only scrape the money for 1000 rounds, but that's better than nothing.

And yes, Viking, I have been doing some looking around at components and it is becoming exceedingly clear that the components market is about the same as the 22lr market right now. Very disappointing.

I might very well give it a year before I get into reloading. I think it is like an oak tree. When asked, "What is the best time to plant an oak?", the answer is always, "Twenty years ago!" I wish I had started reloading 4 years ago...

I think that a lot of unused reloading gear is going to start appearing on Craigslist and Ebay in the next 12 months. Lots of people bought everything they need to get started and found the drought of components as you have. They will let the gear sit in a corner of the garage for awhile before they start to sell it off. Keep your eyes open!

Conversion barrels are NOT prohibited as long as they are the same length as the factory barrel. You cannot "make major" with a 9mm in Limited 10.

You will be hard pressed to find .40 ammo factory loaded to 165 PF. I prefer the slide speed I get from a 175 PF load in .40 I shoot a 175 gr cast bullet @ just over 1000 fps. A too light load will actually slow you down as you will find yourself waiting for the slide to lock so you can take the next shot.

That's why we're seeing so many AR-15 mags on the market now because so many bought them up and now realize they don't actually need 50 magazines in the safe...

Slide speed is a good point. This is a common complaint from people trying to download their 40 into minor, but I think 170 PF shouldn't slow down the lockup speed too much.

According to THIS THREAD on the Brian Enos forum, USPSA leadership has already ruled that 40-9 conversion barrels are only okay in Open division. I don't really see a benefit in dropping to minor anyway. In Limited-10 there's no capacity benefit. In Limited there would be a 3-round capacity benefit, but most stages wouldn't realize a benefit unless a particular run didn't require a reload at all with 23 rounds in the first mag.
