Factory ammo for F Class

Here's another shot at answering this question. This is not a referendum on the value of reloading. I concede the value of that. Let's say you show up at a 1K competition and forgot your ammo. Choose an off the shelf option. Good luck.

I am assuming that your packin a 308 like many people out there.

There are only a few out there that are made for this.

Federal GMM 175gr SMK

and

Black Hills red box loaded again with Sierra 175gr SMK.

If they had it I may grab Lapua 185gr Scenar

.308 is correct. Your two choices seem to be accepted by all I've talked to. There is, however, a little buzz about the recently announced Hornady Superformance 178 gr. Match. Sounds good, but we'll have to wait for a little feedback as there aren't any on the shelf yet.

They are the most talked about because they are the most out there. There are plenty of others out there as well but just not on store shelves most you have to order.

That Hornady Superformance ammo looks good on paper with 300 fps more speed never hurt in the F-class game.

Did some test using factory ammo in benchrest match. Used 6BR factory ammo in a good barrel. Tested 105 grain ammo in the match and 90 grain in another. The shooter finished 6th with factory ammo and 7th using his own rifle and ammo. Was the factory better than his own? I do not think so. I think he just got a better condition on the relay for the factory ammo.
Have built and tuned several Remington PSS and Sako TRG rifles. In 308 accuracy is good for factory ammo. If your rifle is 308, you have options.
If a 6 BR is a thought, there are some options as well.
You did mention off the shelf ammo? In today's world, I would worry if the shelf had any quality ammo left.
best of luck.
