Why is full auto so expensive?

Everything full-auto I see on gunbroker costs thousands. Is it similarly expensive to have someone convert a semi-auto gun to full-auto (assuming you live in a state where it's legal). In VA, I think you have to pay a couple hundred bucks to register a fully auto weapon, but is it a process that really costs thousands of dollars?

Supply and demand, no new full autos can be made after 1986 and the demand is massive. The price is set by how bad someone wants it.

It is illegal to convert any firearm to full auto...has been for decades. Reason full auto is expensive is limited supply, high demand. 1980s era Firearms act prohibits sale or posession of full auto to existing firearms only...no newly manufactured full auto to anyone but Military and LE agencies, civi posession now a Federal crime punishable by fines and prison.

And again...

Google "May 1986" and "automatic" and you will find all your answers explaining prices and the (il)legality of converting semis to full.

Long story short: Supply and demand. No increase in supply in 25 years...

well that explains it. shows how out of the loop I am. I guess I'll just pull the trigger really fast and pretend

Don't pull it too fast or the BATFE may rule your finger an illegal device. :)

take a trip to youtube and look up some paintballing videos. You would be surprised at how fast some can pull a trigger

If you're interested, there's always a Slide-Fire stock. Expensive (@ $350?), but if you just gotta have full-auto, that will simulate it for much less cost and legal hassle than a class 3 weapon

if your gonna dip into the class3 game you will die of old age before the price ever decreases. since 1986 class3 have only ever gone up in price never down. not even gold does that.
