Trip- I could show you one............

But then I would have to kill you.....

It was designated the QSPR (Quiet Special Purpose Revolver) Looked like a Mdl 29 with a VERY short smoothbore barrel, bobbed hammer, no sights.

The real key was the ammo- a captive piston cartridge. On firing the steel cup was driven forward but stopped at the case mouth, containing all gasses. The projectile was a plastic sabot holding 15 tungsten balls, .5 grains each. Lethal range about 30 FEET, MV about 730 fps. Sound level
comparable to a suppressed 22 pistol.

"Trying to produce"??

They made them. Short barrel mdl 29, smoothbore. The ammo was
steel cased and fully self contained. Basically a short barreled silent
shotgun. I don't think they were actually made by S&W, but converted
by an outside company.

Or are you thinking of something else?

Actually, my research (correct me of I'm wrong) shows they didn't make them, another company modified them. Other than the barrel and hammer, it doesn't appear there was any other special thing done to the gun. But the ammo! Engineering marvel! Makes me want to build something like that!

Captive piston, AND a captive primer! Freaking wow!
