SBR private sale?

A local guy is selling a Sig 556 SBR for a decent price. My question is how do private sales work in regards to an SBR? Do I need to get the stamp first or because it is a private sale are the rules different? Thanks in advance.

Check you state and local laws as well as the BATF regs. The stamp is definitely needed before you can take possession, not sure on the regs on transfer of a Class III firearm.

If he needs to unload it right away do it thru your local class 3 FFL dealer , that way the dealer can take possession for you until your stamp arrives and the guy has his money and cannot back out on the deal . Expect a wait, my first one was 7 months , second one a little over 6 months and just sent my 3rd off today. regardless you will need the stamp before you can take possession of the firearm . You need to check you local laws first though to make sure you can legally own a SBR
