Default Sbr build

I'm thinking of slapping on a 11.5 in BCM barrel on my ar lower. What paperwork would I have to fill out to get it registered to the ATF?

Call them and talk to the NFA branch. I did it once and they sent me a package full of paperwork and fingerprint cards.

And I would call them before doing any slapping.

Otherwise, they may do the slapping.

You can do this with a Form 1. An 11.5" barrel on an AR15 is sick. You just don't need all that barrel, I wouldn't go any shorter then an 11.5".

Yes , form 1 Individual or trust. Individual requires photographs, fingerprints, and your local chief leo to sign off it . $200 check and a 6-7 month wait. A trust does not require any of this but the cost of a trust done by an attorney can be $250-400 on top of the $200 tax stamp and still a 6 month + wait . You will also need to have the receiver engraved with your name or trust name with city and state . Do not possess these sbr parts until you get the stamp back or can be charged with possession to build . Its not cheap and the wait sucks but its worth every penny

Or you could just buy a bullpup designed rifle and have a gun just as short or shorter without all the paperwork and hassle and there isn't the velocity loss of a SBR. But a short AR would be cool.

I do like the kel tec rfb but I like having the option of throwing on a 16 or 20' barrel on my ar. I know I could get a 16' on the rfb buts already have an ar and 11.5. It's just too tempting to pass up
