Is it okay to laminate my tax stamp form?
I'm so excited!!! Received a call from my LGS telling me they received my handgun suppressor tax stamp. It's for 9mm SWR Trident9. Right away went to my LGS during work to pick it up. The form was pending on 1/6/12, approved on 6/18/12 and received on hand today.
The question is, may i laminate the tax stamp form? As it was folded when ATF mailed it to my LGS. Of course i'd make a copy, put the copy whenever the suppressor is and keep the original in a safe place.
Sorry i'm sounded like a boy who just got his candy, i'm to excited to finally brought my 1st can home. Now waiting for 2 more stamps within this year.
Thank you

The reason you dont laminate them is if by some lightning strike an atf agent requires you to present the original a laminated original is considered not valid and you will need to redo the process. Stupid, but thats the way it is.

Hopefully my tax stamp is approved that fast. Mine was submitted early February for an AAC Eco 9. I'll be sure not to laminate it! I did see on the Silencerco FB page that they had meetings with the BATFE and the 12 contractors are at work on the approvals but it will take months to see an improvement as they work on the backlogs.
Grats on the can!

There are efforts to have suppressors removed from nfa rules and titled same as a handgun sale. Most of the problems that the batfe has is the popularity of suppressors.

Quick question, Why does it take 6 months to get approved? I can't see a simple background check taking that long.

It's a NFA class 3 item. Only 12 examiners for the whole country while thousands of applications need to be reviewed. That's what i thought why.

I took a picture of mine with my cell phone and keep the original in my gun safe next to my trust paperwork.
