DefaultI like to ask the same questions as everybody else.
I am interested in getting a silencer / suppressor in either 9mm or .45 I have not yet made up my mined which.
The nearest gun shop for me seems to be about 2-3 hours away that sells them. ( which I think I need to look around some more)


I live in FL for anyone that doesn't not already know.
Questions:

How long does it take to get cleared?

Can I fill anything out before I go to the gun shop?

Where do I do the finger prints?

Does having my ccw help at all?

My stamp came back in 63 days.

The dealer will have the paper work, and pretty much itll have your info, his info, some signatures, your photo and the serial number of the can.

I had mine done at our cheriffs office, they did it for free. Call the PD and the SO, see who will do it, and what they will charge, if anything.

AFAIK, CCW will have no effect, as they will be running all the checks again.

I could make a list of a bunch of guns i have, or "have", or wish I had. Why would one feel compelled to provide that infornation freely? Do you feel the need to show off? Is it some immature game of oneupsmanship?

Why do you feel it necessary to list your guns?

Can I ask what's the difference between a silencer and a suppressor?

WOC, the correct term is suppressor. It does not "silence" a firearm- it suppresses, or quiets the noise down- and suppresses (reduces) musszle flash. Does not work like in the movies.

a silencer is what you see bad guys screwing onto a revolver in hollywood movies and tv. they do not exist as a real world item.

a supressor is what goes on a real life firearm to reduce muzzle report. they do not exist in hollywood tv shows and movies.

a supressor does nothing to reduce the sound of a bullet traveling super sonic but can still be used to reduce the sound of a firearm reducing the muzzle blast and containing spent gas.
