Help identifying a gun

My step brother gave me a call asking me to look up what an MP 80 is, I told him I never heard of it, but I would try and find out for him.
The only description he gave was that it was about two feet long, fired .45 cal and had a 40 round magazine with it that loaded right in front of the trigger.
He was told that it was German made and was called the MP 80, but the owners have no real clue about it and he hasn't been able to see it yet.
I've tried using google but keep getting directed to the MP 40 and then I found this site, I'm hoping someone could help me out.

Cool your jets pal, the guy could've been at work or still is. And the odds are it is an MP-40.
