What about it? Yes, you can build a class III firearm AFTER you do the "Mother may I?" paperwork with the BATFE, pay them their transfer fee, AND have their approval.
Please note that you CANNOT make a full auto- there ARE other class III firearms, y'know. Short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, suppressors, etc. __________________ What we have heah is.... failure to communicate. |

Cuda- a quote from Chief Justice John Marshall- and cudos to Daniel Webster-
Chief Justice Marshall said: "That the power of taxing it [the bank] by the States may be exercised so as to destroy it, is too obvious to be denied , and That the power to tax involves the power to destroy [is] not to be denied" . __________________ What we have heah is.... failure to communicate. |

I'm a new member with what may be a dumb question. All these effin rules are so complicated you need a P.h.D. to figure them out. Can the average law abiding citizen own a Safety Harbor KEG12 http://www.safetyharborfirearms.com/products/shotguns/shotguns.html
by simply paying the above mentioned $200 tax?
Thanks in advance. |

Class III firearms include full auto, short barreled rifles, silencers, destructive devices short barreled shotguns, AND a group called AOWs- Any Other Weapons. If you convert a shotgun to a short barrel, it is an SBS. However, make a 12 g pistol from scratch, it is an AOW. That has a one time $5 Federal transfer tax. If laws in your STATE permit, and you can pass a background check to buy an ordinary firearm, you can own one.
Here is an example. These were never shotguns with a shoulder stock, and so are AOWs.

By the way, THIS is a BRIEF summary of the process of BUYING a Class III firearm.
