Can I sell a gun in Texas without an FFL?

I am interested in buying parts kits, building them myself and then selling them for profit to buy more parts kits. Can I do this legally without having to register for an FFL and avoid make a huge business out of it. Thanks!

Nope. You are welcome to build all the non-full auto guns you want for yourself. Once you "engage in the business" of building guns for sale, you will need a FFL- I do believe as a Manufacturer. There is a Federal Excise tax that is paid on each gun made.

Taxes- as in "Who was it that put Al Capone in jail?"- Oh, yeah- the IRS.

I would look there, but that sounds like more of a business than a hobby to me. Shouldn't need a FFL per the 2A, but you probably do per the BATF.

Firearms manufacturing is a serious business with significant liability and legal implications. Are you sure you want to go there?
An occasional sale by an individual to another qualified individual is not prohibited, but manufacturing firearms primarily for sale is quite clearly prohibited by the BATFE.
If you build a rifle from purchased and registered parts and wish to sell it, you are within your rights. Build many and you may find a room at the gray bar hotel.

Yes you need a manufacturer license to assemble ARs and sell them.
