What should be my B-Day Present?

Oooooo boy my mother and grandmother are thinking about getting me a gun for my birthday now since well...that's what I like to collect now.

My friend just recently got a Hex Mosin in from aim for 100 dollars and it's damn nice...lots of package stuff on it though so they had to clean it.

First question...is the Hex better I guess? My brother owns a round one from 1943....I kinda prefer the WW2 one myself...but IDK maybe you can tell me.

Either way

Here's the deal...it's either a Mosin from AIM

A CZ 82 from Classic Arms

Or....if I can penny push them...some type of AK-47....really I'm leaning towards the CZ-82...just because I'm a CZ aholic.

We are getting it through C&R so it would be great to have it appear on the front door somewhere...haha...either way...what do you think?

With the MOSIN I could probably use the rest of the cash to buy a case of 800 rounds of ammo....but with the CZ...when I get older it would be my carry weapon...and we already have a Mosin Downstairs...but it's my brothers.

Tough call, I love both. A hex reciver isn't necessarily better, but is rarer.

CZ gets the edge for me, and is an excellent carry piece.

Yeah, I've also heard that a hex reciever is more rare than a round one. I think they made the hex for a couple of years before they made the round ones but I could be wrong on that note. I've also been told that a Mosin made in 1943 is rare also, I heard they didn't make very many that year. That one looks like a nice one, I'm in fact thinking of adding a 91/30 to my collection, even though I already have an M44.

Also, just a little warning Jiro, stay away from Bulgarian ammunition. I bought 300 rounds for $40 bucks last year and have had a lot of split cases. I even found a couple which were split right out of the tin, not even fired yet. I've also had a couple split enough when fired that my bolt wouldn't withdrawl from the reciever. I've heard that the Bulgarian ammo is not that great and Russian ammo is of better quality. Just my $0.02!!!:D

Do you have any handguns now? If not get the CZ. The 82 is one of the best semi auto handguns ever produced and it is an excellent carry pistol.

The family has for the house in my room my S&W .357....more than likely not a carry piece as of how big it is (of course I'm leaning towards having that as my main pistol when I'm older...and a Mak pistol being a backup).

Tsk, tsk, tsk.... The Mak should be your primary carry. Leave the S&W as your house gun. That's the way I do it.

Well I like having a gun that I know will knock someone on their butt from one shot. So will the CZ but either way....I want to have a Revolver and some type of Clip pistol as my two carries just incase I have a jam.

Nothing wrong with that. In fact I was really considering getting a Tokarev from Classic Arms when my refund comes. Sounds like a good price on ammo there too.

JiroZero713 02-21-2009 06:48 AM

I don't trust the Tokarev...no good safety and known to slam fire from dropping.

The CZ-52 is far superior and is sometiems cheaper...get a titanium firing pin and go to town.

I did consider that once. A little bit ugly, but actually finding and holding one convinced me to look for something else!!! :D Too heavy. Not good to carry for sure....
