Can anyone tell me what kind of gun this is? The mark that is near the baonet is stamped all over the gun and the number 1225 is stamped on all the metal parts.

looks like a yugo m48/A?/B?/BO?

The bands and sling loops are all wrong for an M48. Cal7.92 was common on Spanish or South Smerican mausers. The bend of the bolt has me stumped. It is an M24 based rifle. OP is the butt plate flat or cupped. Can you remove the bolt and take a pic, and also one of the top of the action and receiver. Front sight??

I think I have it! The bend in the bolt is definitely Spanish, just like the M1916. It very well could be a VZ24 (Czech) that was used in the Spanish civil war. Still need more pics! Add a pic of the butt plate.

And it should! FR-8's were made from these Spanish civil war VZ24's. It is a VZ24 that the Spaniards bent the bolt. Very cool rifle and not that common. Most were made into FR-8's. That is a collectable, although it is not worth as much as a K98, it is still worth $350.00 to 500.00 depending on the bore condition and metal/ bluing. It is a keeper for sure!! The ring on the left side makes the ID correct.

cool, what kind of ammo does it take? 8mm? I really want to shoot it.

Sniper03 03-28-2011 10:02 PM

The 7.92X57 is the same as the 8mm Mauser round~
So the answer to your question is yes it is.
Enjoy that new rifle. By the way how is the bore in it?
