While they may have started MAKING it in 1915, Colt did not CALL it "Woodsman" until 1927, when that was added as a roll mark. About 54,000 "pre-Woodman" pistols were made.

Incidentally, ALL Colt Woodsman, Huntsman, etc are classed as Curio & Relic Firearms, without regard to date of manufacture.

Standard Catalog of Colt Firearms, Rick Sapp, pg 172.

You are correct, c3shooter, the Model .22 cal. Colt Automatic Pistol, manufactured from 1915 until 1927, was changed to The Woodsman at serial number 34000. THE WOODSMAN was added to the left side of the frame ahead of the slide.

Since we are speaking of .22s, beyond the Short, Long, Long Rifle and Magnum, how many OTHER .22 rimfires can y'all name?

Winner gets an all expense paid trip to Miltonvale KS (named for local businessman, Milton Tootle)
