I bought it back in December for $180 plus 20 rounds of ammo,

t/y my freind i dont like to bubba up a nice straight shooting rifle , i try and make em look like real hunting or target rifles not like some kid did it in his basement ,glad ya like , the bolts were a pain but once i got past that i was able to make some nice rifle,s out of two 70 yr old jap simple rifles capable of astounding accuracy when done right.Cant wait to scout sopescope the mil version, my eyes are not the best anymore but the mount does not alter rifle from accumounts , but easily installed,Ill call it my modern old school jap scout sniper lol.The bent bolts are such an improvement over the straight just a lot of work.

Ok, correction, I was thinkin of mausers and mosins when I said "tacticool". I have seen a few bubba'd Arisakas, but thankfully no tacticool ones, yet. The tacticool mosins and Mausers make me want to scream

Sounds like a good deal. All te Arisakas in my area are about $400, unless it's been sporterised.

There is a "Substitute" type 99 or the "Last Ditch" series of T99 Arisakas, that were made very crudely towards the end of the war. All the "unnecessary" parts were left off (dust cover, monopod, cleaning rods) The sights were simplified and no longer had the Aint-aircraft wings. Stocks almost had a "carved" look.

They make a Mosin look good
