Tokarev, Romanian TTC (1956)

New to forum, so I hope this is the right place.....
Just purchased 2 Romanian Tokarev TTC's (SOG).
Fired them yesterday (Romanian ammo)
Both had same problem:

After 1or2 rounds, trigger was "stuck"..i.e. would not move...
Slide was back, hammer cocked, safety off.

I had to recycle 1 or 2 time before trigger would reset.
Was holding gun firmly (no limp wrist)....I like the guns, but any ideas as to what's wrong??

Many thanks.

Check the same question in the gunsmithing section.

I'd start by striping and cleaning both weapons thoroughly, also strip and clean the mags and check the feeding lips at the top.

Also was the ammo you were firing dirty, sticky, greasy?

These will be older weapons that have probably been stored in a warehouse so they will probably have an old oil and wax buildup.

Also stop by the introductions forum and tell us a little about yourself, it goes along was around here ;)

also check your safety...aimsurplus recalled a bunch of them because of this same condition....or does it even have a safety?...some of the torkarevs didnt have them...if others said...clean throughly and make sure all the lil pins in the hammer ass. are in place...theres not much to these pistols and will shoot pretty straight most of the time...gotta hate them hard primers..:)good luck bro;)

Trigger Malfunction Problem Solved by m72law
Problem was THE SAFETY..on both.
Range was 92 degrees, hands were sweating, slipping on plastic grips. After reading m72law, I noticed just 1/8 inch movement of safeties would block I removed both of them.

GawdAmighty! Those rascals were flawless.!! I not only had a ball, but decided to keep both. They're a real hoot to shoot.

How come nobody else knew this (even the 3 shops I called)????

Anyhow, public thanks to m72law and a good lesson for anyone else having similar problem.

God Bless America and Give Thanks for the 4th.

No problem
no problem.
As for the's still my first love....something about it. Built my own for competition, carried one for years and I've kept Brownells in the black for over 40 years.....As for Toks, I'm keeping both and already figuring our how to trick it out. Bigger mag release, custom plugs for "safety" holes, checkering, grips, slide release, etc..... I'll leave the other one alone...I just love to tinker. Don't understand about all the gab re: It's's not like my Five-seveN, but its not bad at all, just "ol sparky". Not a natural pointer, but fits well in my hand, actually, better than 1911.

Looking for suggestions on best surplus ammo to buy.

God Bless America, Keep everyone reminded what the 4th is all about.

P.S. Sorry for all the talk, but this is my first experience in a forum....
