I guess it would pay for itself, just with out of state ffl transfers.
Edit:
You are able to modify after purchase? Or would that somehow be violating something.

Also, places like Midwayusa, Graf and sons, Numrich and others give discounts to all orders once you fill out their dealer paperwork. Since I buy a lot of reloading supplies to feed all the milsurps I bought, that alone pays for the 30 dollar three year fee.

kytowboater... You can modify a C&R gun any way you want, unless you're modifying it into an expressly illegal weapon. For example, Mosin/Nagant owners modify their collections in many ways (stock refinishes, scopes, etc.). You can always call ATF if you have a question.

This seemed as good a place as any to ask this. If I hag a C&R am I able to receive firearms from other countries? My kids travel quite a bit and asked about it.

Tolly- that is IMPORTING a firearm. If you want to do that, you will have a full time hobby- reading regulations of the STATE Dept and the COMMERCE Dept- and filling out paperwork. And you would become good friends with US Customs. The best I could say is it is a ROYAL PITA.

No, a C&R FFL does not permit you to import firearms. THAT is a Type 8 FFL.

Thanks c3. My son in law is a Major in the ASAF and was going to see about some firearms for me while there. Guess I'll have to find another way.
