Default Pricy Mosin-Nagant rifle

For those who argue that Mosin-Nagant rifles are not really collectable:

A banged-up, Finnish Mosin-Nagant with a missing hand-guard sold on Gunbroker for $12,501.01 yesterday.

How about a link to the auction? Quick scan thru the GB closed auctions did not show one THAT high.

When items sell for that its not for intrinsic value but possible historic significance.

Or someone is laundering money....

Generally not. Pedigreed and one-of-a-kind items are an exception. A genuine partisan or WW2 Resistance obrez would be almost priceless.

Finnish Mosins are more valuable than most Soviet ones, but not sky high. I own and shoot an M39.

Chain, you're on the spot !

That could be one of Hayha's rifles, or a super rare sniper M28 of which maybe a dozen were made... :curious:

I read a thread over on GunBoards, and a member there bought it. The story behind it is that only 200 were made by Raviiamke (totally butchered the spelling), they were an ammunition factory in Finland. Only around 4 are known to exist in North America. Three are owned by GunBoards members and the other is in a museum IIRC, and only a VERY small handful are known to exist in Finland. People over on GunBoards say that went for reasonably cheap (with that being said, many members there own well over 100 Mosins of all degrees of rarity and oddity). I'm perfectly content with my two sub-$150 Mosins
