Haven't seen this anywhere so a soliciting advice, am planning on testing the theory of whether Mosins were designed to be shot with or without bayonets extended.

1 Should I sight in the Mosin first or fire with the factory setting?

2 Does anyone know whether the Mosin was fired for accuracy with bayonet attached by the factory to set the sights?

3 Will fire Mosin with and without Bayonet to determine shift in point of impact and note any differences in group size either reduction or spread.

4 Will conduct same experiment with M44 that I also don't own.

The M44 was intended to be fired with the bayonet extended. It is foldable to make it more compact for transport.

Don't have that problem with my M38- No bayonet!

So do you know if the sights were regulated at the factory with bayonet extended. Or do you think that during wartime they just set the front sight down the bore center line and called it good. Especially since they wern't testing for rifles that intrinsically shot well for conversion to sniper configuration like they did the 91/30.
