New Springfield resto project. Some info needed
 

On to another project. This one is a Springfield single shot 12 gauge that also has been in the wife's family for several generations, like the Forehand revolver. Problem is that there's no model number or other info for me to try to find out it's relative age. Pictures below.

Oh, by the way. Here's the finished Forehand .38 S&W project. I'm pretty pleased with it, if I say so myself. :D

Very nice work.

The shotgun looks a lot like a savage model 220. Except the 220 is hammerless. The 220 was made 1965-72.

I think you have a Stevens (savage,Springfield) model 94.

I did find a bit more info now knowing the model. It's, in fact, a 94A which was made between 1926 and 1945.

It's just about ready to go up on the wall. We decided not to remove the remaining coating on the receiver as not to spoil the appearance of age. The stock is going to remain original including all of it's imprefections. The corrosion has been as removed from the rest of the gun as best as possible for now. Another treatment is in order before it gets mounted. When it is done, I'll post a pix when it gets mounted on it's resting place.

That's awesome. Nothing better than pointing someone in the right direction and letting them take the reigns. Glad you were able to lock the model down. Can't wait to see pics.
