Anschutz JGA Buscher-Sportmodell Trainer. Military single shot bolt action training rifle. The rifle was designed to realistically imitate the feel and function of the standard 98K Mauser. This is a “Buscher” model. Buscher was a personal friend of Max Anschutz, and a renowned gun dealer in Germany. This is his "private label" firearm. The rifle was produced for the KdF, the KdF was a NSDAP workers organization. The 4mm Long training rifles were intended for indoor shooting and were called "Zimmerschuetzen" ("Room rifles"). The bore did not run the entire length of the barrel. Interestingly, the actual 4mm bore is only about 10 or 12 inches long from the breech, then the rest of the barrel out to the muzzle is counter bored. The 4mm cartridge didn't have enough power to propel the lead ball through a full barrel length bore.
