Default Muzzle Brake

Do muzzle brakes have much effect on recoil or do they blow your gun apart?

Blow your gun apart? Not sure who's been talking to you. They DO have a effect on recoil but it makes it much louder for the shooter.

They reduce recoil, and blow your ears out without ear protection.

Yes they are loud, altho a good sound suppressor is also a very effective brake.

Here is an example of a gun that needs a muzzle brake.
