Yep, that's an Izhevsk, see that weird looking stamping above the date, sorta looks like a hammer inside a circle?

Are the Tula better? I thought the hex were more wanted? I don't know a whole lot about them. It was kinda an impulse buy.

Yes the hexes are more desirable and they were made earlier(I think from 31-39, I'm prolly wrong) IDK about which one is better than the other.

from what I understand the hex receiver is older and more desirable and tula is harder to find making the hex receiver made by tula a more desirable find for collectors
if you guys would like I can direct you to a manual that is a free printable mosin nagant manual made in may of 1954
by the soviet union with information on 90 percent of the mosin rifles including distances and things for the rear sight numbers and a guide on how to identify your rifle I think
