Mosin Sniper
well i picked up a mosin nagant sniper model today. rguns over in carpenertville il. had a few left and i went down picked through the lot looking for one that lined up decently with the sights and the scope over the bore. unfortunately the crappiest stock was the best functional that i could determine without shooting. the shiny bit on the scope is not metal its some sort of packing material that is pretty gummy and cleaned off easily.
numbers on the rifle all match including the turned down bolt which is not a reweld or melted one lending credence to its authenticity. it has the extra "C" style stamp next to the arsenal stamp.
the scope shows that this particular rifle was re-arsenaled at some point which is common for these rifles.

also bought 880 rounds of 7.62x54r silvertip in the crate
i had no idea how hard these tins are to open fortunately the crate had a can opener inside. never bought this much ammo in a crate before cost was 140$ for 880 rounds.
tomorrow if i can get it clean enough im gonna go out for some range time.

Heavy ball will shoot best. Good luck w/ her. Scope was rebuilt in 64.

thats what i figured it meant. re-arsenaled in 64 and some point after that or at the time mated to the rifle. the bore and sights line up with a laser as does the scope. everything seems centered.

That young man did some fine shooting! 850 yards in a twenty MPH wind..... his 'wind doping skills' are pretty good. The Mosin Nagant rifle can really strut her stuff with good loads and a good rifleman!
