Too late! I just bought a mosin nagan from big 5 for 180$! Its a hex reciecier 91/30 im amazed by how new it looks for such an old rifle all numbers match and the wood is beatiful! It came with 4 pouches, a bayonet, an oil can thing and some other type of pouch, looks pretty darn new to me bore has nice sharp rifling all for 180$ i bought a sexy beast!!

Clean it well. The chambers typically have caked in cosmoline and you need to get in there and soak it good with hoppes #9 solvent and a chamber brush. Even if it looks clean its prolly not.

Second thing ammo.

Surplus ammo is corrosive. Use very hot soapy water to clean thoroughly if use it. New production brown silver gold bear and winchester white box are non corrosive.

In my mosins winchester white box is most accurate producing solid 1 inch groups at 100. It is also in the same class as 30-06. The bear ammo is a little weaker.

Question (and this happens a lot in these gun pics....)

if you are going to go to all that trouble to take and post pics of your rifle.....why not just go ahead and make the damn bed??
