Mosin Nagant Sniper Rifle

Thinking about adding one of these to my collection. What do you think about them. $399 through classic firearms!

There most likely reproductions at that price...

They are... Still a good addition to the collection though.

Can you post a link?
The snipers can be hard to get your hands on but your average nagant runs at about $100 so the price tag is not out of the question.

A shop in Louisville has sniper Nagants for $1000 and they actually sell.

$399 sounds pretty reasonable. J&G had them last year for $425, but I think they are sold out now.

They are re-manufactured. So not an original but not bad for the price in my opinion. If you figure you buy a regular one with the field kit you're probably looking at a minimum $140 plus shipping. By the time you get it to a smith to have the bolt turned down and the receiver drilled and tapped for the mount you're probably looking at the same price. You could save some money by buying a regular one and getting a mount that replaces the rear sight but its not the same.

The only problem with the $399.00 rifle (and that is a good price) is they take a run-of-the-mill Mosin, not selected for accuracy and slap a reproduction scope and mount on it. If you have been living right and are very lucky, you might get FAIR shooter. It will look like an authentic sniper to the uninitiated, but it is all lipstick on a pig. Rguns may still have some authentic sniper rifles that will gain in value over time. The repro will never be worth more than it is right now.
