I think these guys have a setup for the Mosin, but i don't know if it is historically accurate at all.
PU Mosin-Nagant Side Mount w/ 26.5mm Rings and PU Mosin-Nagant Original Rail w/ Screws Set - Other, Mosin, Mauser - Mounts This one looks nice but COSTS.

I don't have a clue which model Mosin you have, or what type of mount you are looking for -- but I have heard good things about Darrell's scout mounts:
Quote:

Please contact Darrell at: m39scout@bellsouth.net to get on the waiting list for the next batch of mounts.
Darrell's M91/30 Mosin Battle Rifle & M91/59 Mosin Carbine Scout Mounts are Rock Solid, and require NO drilling, NO tapping, and NO permanent alteration to your rifle. You can change it back to Original Military Configuration in about 10 minutes.
The mounts come with all brass setscrews (to help protect the metal on your milsurp), replacement pivot pin, hexkey (allen wrench) and complete instructions. The Weaver Style Rail is machined into the mount.
PRICE: $75/$78US (MO/Paypal) with FREE shipping in the US!! Shipping to other countries will be extra.

I'm pretty certain he's looking for a mount like the scout mount. You can have a reciever drilled and tapped for another type mount but you'll also need to have the bolt turned down. The PU mount used in the snipers will require the rifle to be made for it. Which also involved a cutout section of the stock.
Scout mounts are the most typical with a long eye relief scope..

i have a scout mount on my m44 it works well. weaver makes a side mount for the savage 340 i think, that fits the mosin nagant with the traditional bent bolt or a sportster bolt.

Hear is my setup. Im not sure the company that made the mount, but it says s/k on the side of it. The scope is a Thompson center 7-2.5 zoom and it stay's true through a good amount of time and abuse.
