Mosin Nagant Bolt Question
Sgt. Miller's thread got me to thinking about my Mosin Nagant 91/30. At some point when I have the funds I want to install a scope on it. I have found the right mount for it, but have a question about the bolt. I don't want to do anything to the bolt that is on it as it matches the rest of the rifle.

My question is this. Are the bolts for the 91/30's interchangeable? I am assuming they are but want to be sure before I seek out another bolt. It may just make sense to get another rifle to do this to because they are so inexpensive still. Thoughts from the experts?

All bolts should interchange between the Mosin Nagants. It shouldn't matter whether it's a 91/30, M44, or M38. From what I understand, all receivers/bolts are the same and the only changes were made to the barrels.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

You can find Mosin for less than $100 if you look around that is what I got my latest M44 for. It is the one rifle I can buy and not feel like my wallet is lighter.

That is what I was thinking. I can get one for $89 this weekend from J&G at the Phoenix gunshow. Probably cheaper than a bolt alone.

Buy a Mosin with a bad barrel so that it gives you bartering advantage. If that fails go with a better one so that you get another good Mosin Nagant.
Then you can bend the bolt yourself.
(or) you can just buy one of these and replace the part in your Mosin. In other words, you can keep it authentic! The Boltman

With the bolts, just switch the bolt body and use the same bolt head if you are worried about headspace. That way, you can keep the original bolt and still mount the bolt.

I broke an extractor on my 91/30, so I ordered a repalcement extractor, but instead received a bolt head assembly with the extractor in place. I switched the bolt head and it works fine - no head space issues.

Thanks for the info. I didn't make it to the gunshow this weekend so I may check out the Apex Gun Parts.
