Mosin-Nagant
Dear Forum Members,
I am looking to start purchasing firearms but I'm not interested in AR-15's and all the tactical weapons, as a history buff I'm interested in weapons such as the Mosin-Nagant and M1's. Does anyone have a recommendation on the best place to purchase a Mosin? I've looked at several websites but was unsure which one is the best to deal with thanks and have a great day. Justin

Can't really go wrong anywhere. They range from $100-$130 for round and hex receiver 91/30s. The m44 will fetch more but not much. Then you may get into the Finnish rifles, those are more expensive.
I would start with a 91/30, try and get a hex receiver though. Please don't cut it up either.

Seems like the Mosins are drying up

If you can get one between $90 and $120 buy it on the spot. Mosins are good rifles, and an interesting piece of history to own.
If you do not own any firearms or haven't owned any, get yourself a Henry Golden Boy in .22lr. That way you can shoot more, and learn to shoot better without killing your wallet.
Drop by the intro section, tell us a little about yourself.

I have always had good dealings with J&G sales. If you have the extra cash I would suggest having them hand select one with a shiny bore. Right now they have the Russian 91/30 which is the long rifle and the Chinese Type 53 (same as the M44) which is the carbine with the attached bayonet. Here is the link:

The surplus ammo is a still a good bargain. Just make sure you clean the rifle properly after each time you shoot with the surplus ammo because it is corrosive. It will pitt the bore if you don't clean it after each time you shoot it. Here is the link:

Here is a link to a website with more info than you need to know about these rifles.

They are great rifles IMHO and a piece of history to boot. Enjoy.

I have purchased 2 from Buds Guns with ratings of excellent and good. The one rated good was a pre-war 1939 Izhevsk in almost pristine condition, the excellent was a '41 that was beat to hell, go figure. Long story short, for the $120 or so I paid I am happy...

I just bought one from Buds for $119 bucks, it's in great shape and the wood was beautiful. Real nice rifle for that money.

AIMsurplus.com has some good deals like some one mentioned J&G Sales always has a good stock pile. I don't know if you have a C&R license, if you don't get one, its the best 30 bucks you'll spend. Makes getting those old WW2 relics easier and cheaper when you don't have to pay FFL fees or DROS.
