Mosin 91/30 finally done

Like it Love it or Hate it but its pink :)

after a few weeks of refinishing one of my 91/30's as an experiment to see how well i could refinish a stock i finally got the last pieces together and complete this morning.

the stain is minwax cherry blossom the finish is formby's tung oil gloss finish. i took out the stamped sling estuchions and made some out of brass stock to match the brass end caps.

i think i made 8 estuchions total before i got it down well enough to get 4 good ones. i did some pink fill on the sight range ladder and some of the arsenal markings and serial number. i think it pulls it all together.

anyway here are the pics

Not hatin' or anything,bc it actually looks good for a pink gun...

...but why would you do such a thing?

i like pink guns when its done well. hello kitty type stuff is just wrong. ive got three other mosins one is a sniper which was shellaced with cosmo or oil still on the stock so its flaking off in chunks and just looks like total hell. i want to refinish it in a nice russian red stain and then shellac it like an original.

i saw the pink stain in the hardware store and inspiration hit me that this was the way to go to get the technique down. i can always sand it down and put a traditional color back on it if the value of mosins ever goes up substantially. but i think it is probably worth more pink to a certain sector of gun buyers if i do decide to sell it.

Because he has class. Jon, it's beautiful. NOW can I have the pink 10/22?

That is interesting. I am wondering about the serial number and receiver markings; how did you color them?

fingernail polish. maybeline from walmart heh. no clue if it will hold up to heat or not. if it works with heat build up there are all sorts of crazy colors for color fills
