I want either less corruption or more opportunity to participate in it.

OK guys - Looking at the website and surfing the web, I'm trying to understand the real nitty-gritty difference between these three that are available. All are in the price range. I'm sure the cheapest model would be just fine, but given the option, which of the three is the best overall value? I have no preference .308 vs 30.06. Or none of the below and wait.

Thanks for any insight you can offer.

Service Grade

- RM1HRAS; M1 Garand, HRA (Harrington & Richardson);$625

- RM1HRASSP; M1 Garand, Service Grade HRA (Harrington & Richardson) Special. HRA collector grade metal in excellent almost new condition. Walnut stocks and handguards and associated hardware are new manufacture. NOT original HRA manufacture; $950

Special Grade

- RM1SPECIAL; M1 Garand, CMP Special (.30-06); M1 Garand Springfield Armory receiver. This is a completely refurbished rifle consisting of an original M1 Garand Springfield receiver, new production Criterion barrel, new production American Walnut stock and handguards, and new web sling. Receiver and most other parts are refinished USGI, but some parts may be new manufacture; $995

Its all in black and white, just read the grade descriptions
Go with the $625 Service Grade. they are good rifles and make decent shooters

It all depends on how much you want to spend. Field grade rifles will put a round down range and hit the target but, will probably not be the best looking date at the prom. Most of the CMP rifles of any grade will out shoot the shooter. the person pulling the trigger holds the key to accuracy. Cosmetics can be fixed on most rifles.

If you hold a concealed carry permit, you're qualified for their marksmanship criteria. If you're a veteran, and belong to the American Legion/VFW, or other recognized veterans groups, the club criteria is met.

Less that, paying a $25.00 fee to join the Garand Collectors Association is cheap to be qualified to buy firearms they sell at the prices they're charging. But, if "jumping through hoops" is so tough for you, you can always choose to buy these same firearms for double that price (or more) from some dealer who stocks his racks at the lower price the CMP is charging for them.

And trust me, when the IHC Garands show up, I'd wager you'll see them offered in their auctions. And they ain't gonna sell for cheap.
