Just wanted to share... I wanted to buy a Star Super A from Sarco. My FFL took his sweet time faxing the info over. Then the hurricane came. When they got the FFL and I went ahead to order, the pistols were GONE. That was a sweet deal, $190 for a VG Super A. Oh, well. I now have to wait and hope they get another shipment.

all, especially c&r folks,
i've followed c&r stuff for 20+ years and decided that if you snooze, lose! it's old, but, oh, so true.
remember when yugo 59/66's were $89? how about when a 1K case of commercial 7.62x39 ammo was $89...delivered? finn m39 mosins for $89 + shipping, refurb-ed m44 mosins for $59, or swiss k-31s for $89. their heyday didn't last long, but was there.
i buy things i don't need, but grow to love as prices escalate.
get the star or vz52 if you have a hankering, followed by a walther p-1 or tt33. but the best deals out there today is a cz82, romanian mak or polish p-64.

Hands down my best purchase has been an East German mak at Vances for 260. I put a new spring, extracter and firing pin in for 30. It is a tack driver.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astra_600 if you want something different go for one of these. My buddy has one and its a blast to shoot we are constantly getting people asking "what in the hell is that thing" lol its pretty funny sometimes. Its made really well and HEAVY but its got some serious recoil and muzzle rise compared to a german p38. Anyway its just something to think about.

The Astra 600 was know as the "Pipe Wrench". I can see why.

the astra 400 (9x19) and 600 (9mm largo) are unique; they're straight blow-back weapons, like most .380acp' and 9mm maks. springs and breech blocks need to be strong and heavy enough to counter pressure/recoil normally handled by locked breech pistols.
i shot a pal's 600 and was amazed at how hard it was to cock. i don't have either, but would love to...

Just to follow up, I ordered a Star Super A from Sarco today. Will see it in a month, have to put it on my permit first (I am in NY). 1000 rds of surplus Largo ammo with it. I'm excited!
