K31 Walnut Stock

A friend of mine is a large importer of firearms from Europe. In his last batch of K31s he brought in from Switzerland I found this jewel. As you know most of these have somewhat rough stocks, especially around the butt area. I pulled this one off a rack because the walnut stock jumped out at me. The soldier who owned it refinished the stock and there are just a few minor dings in it. I've had a couple of these fine rifles and find them to be hyper accurate. Now I have one that looks as good as it shoots.

Mag- I do not know you, we have never met or talked. I hate you. :p

That is a BEAUTIFUL rifle. My K-31 is a tackdriver, but has a stock that looks like it got caught in the drive chain of a Harley. Looked at getting a set of walnut furniture, and found it would cost more than I paid for the rifle. ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!

Luckily I had a good selection, actually several hundred to look thru. Some had okay stocks and a lot would be great candidates for refinishing. The Swiss really took care of their rifles, but this one was the first I've seen that was actually refinished by a Swiss soldier.
Here's an earlier K31 that had a chewed up stock that I refinished myself. It's nowhere as nicely grained as the one the soldier did. But if you get one that looks like it was caught in a Harley drivechain most will still clean up enough to at least look better. My friend has another large batch of these coming in along with some K11s. When they arrive I'm going to look for a really nice K11 to go along with the K31. Even the Swiss bayonets are impressive, I can see why Switzerland is the safest country in Europe. The Swiss have the right attitude, every male goes in the Army and is armed.

Very nice! The original Swiss Army Knife! I have one of the older bayonets with the rivet in the blade. Company I work for is HQd in Switzerland- If I have a visit to HO, will be doing some shopping for a replacement stock or two or three.

That's the best place to find these gems, the country of origin.
