Here in Australia those Jungle Carbines make fantastic pig hunting guns because of the 10 shot mag and the shortness of it which is especially helpful in the thick scrub.
That is a very nice example of 1,regards

Weeeelllllll... In my opinion, a couple things "could" contribute to the "wandering zero" myth.. Perhaps not allowing for significant cool down before taking a follow up shot (remember the No5 nas a shoter barrel) ... shooter error, or maybe it truely is a manufacture defect. If you can sit at the range and site it in with a fair amount of cool down time between each shot, then I'd say it's a myth that can be debuncked...

Most blame seems to centered on the lightening cuts made on the receiver and barrel...they are noticeable but are they really that much of a factor?

Great thread and very informative, thanks The Old Man. No5s have always been my very favorite Enfield, the things are just darn sexy. My first one had the wandering zero problem but a couple I later acquired did not, go figure. My friend Ian Skennerton who wrote the book on Enfields tracked the problem down to receiver flexing due to the lightening cuts.
