Japanese Type 26 Revolver
My grandfather has a Japanese Type 26 revolver my great-grandfather got from a Japanese soldier in WWII. I have emailed a lady who is a heavy researcher into these guns for some info but thought I would post here to see if anyone has additional info or has one of these guns.

The serial number appears to be 4856 so that would make it pretty early in the production line. Any help is apprecaited.

Meiji type 26 designed in the year 26 of the Meiji Era or 1893 by our calendar. Looks like a really nice example however it looks like some rust or pitting on the cylinder. I believe it is some form of 9mm and not very powerful.

I heard back from the lady in Canada and she said based on the serial number it was probably produced between 1898 and 1900. It doesn't appear to have been refurbished like many other Type 26 and could have served in both World Wars. I'm going to try and find some ammo that will fit in the gun just to keep on hand. I may have it inspected and shot if I get the time.
