japanese rifle
my farther inlaw had a ww2 japenese rifle in attick it was packed in grease .
recently we took it down and cleaned it can it be fired or not is the question

If it was packed in grease, I would say YES, but a picture or two would help to be sure...............

Impossible to answer without seeing the rifle. For ANY of us.

Assuming that the rifle is Japanese military, it is PROBABLY- but not certainly- an Arisaka. THAT was one of the strongest, safest bolt actions ever built.

HOWEVER- right at the very end of the war, we were bombing the crap out of Japan, and they were making whatever they could make in somebody's kitchen- since they expected US Marines to be coming ashore any moment.

There were also "cadet" rifles- made to be used for training, firing blank ammo- but never meant to shoot ball ammo.

You REALLY need to clean the grease off, and take it to a real gunsmith for a checkup. Because you are not holding the rifle close enuff to the computer for us to tell.
