Iver Johnson Champion
I'm sure this probably doesnt qualify as a relic to some of you but I have an Iver Johnson Champion thats in 20 gauge, the single shot shotgun they started making in the 1940s. Its something like the 91st or 92nd rolled off the line and its my fathers gun since he was a kid handed down from my grandfather on my dad's side. Its a family heirloom in a sense even though its not worth much monitarily its worth a lot to us.

My question is how do I go about restoring an old gun like this and keep it from losing value and its originality?

Right.. Pictures will help us determine how much, if any, restoration needs to be done on it.

Most likely the answer is "Leave it alone". The metal parts can be wiped with an oily rag and thats it.

Crap, I knew I forgot to do something before I came back home. The gun isnt in my posession at the moment, its at my parents house 1,000 miles away, but I'll have one of them take pictures of it for me.
