I have a Marlin Model 60 that was given to me by my grandfather and am currently trying to sell it. The rifle has checkering on the stock, but it's not a new model, it's at the very least, 10 years old. If anyone has any information on this rifle or it's value, please let me know. I know it's rare to see the checkering on the older ones and just wondered if that's going to add to the value of the rifle.

Marlin 60's are not particularily collectable. They are good rifles meant to be shot till they drop and discarded. One with cut checkering would be unusual but (unfortunately) not very valuable. I have one that was make in about 1977 (bought new). It has pressed checkering and is pretty much shot out. It still works but is so innacurate that it is just a bullet hose now. The barrel to receiver fit is sloppy as ... well it's sloppy.
